Screw Compressors

Rotary Screw Compressors

If your compressor is running more than it is resting, you have outgrown a piston. A rotary screw runs continuously. It produces steady flow instead of cycling on and off, it is quiet enough to stand next to, and with the packaged refrigerated dryer it delivers clean dry air to every outlet in the shop.

We supply the ELGi EN series as complete CTD packages: compressor, receiver, refrigerated dryer, line filters and auto drain, ready to connect. Call us on 1300 405 581 before ordering so we can size it against your real air demand rather than a guess.

Why a screw instead of a piston

  • Continuous duty. No duty cycle to work around. It runs all day.
  • Steady flow. No pressure sag mid-job, which matters for spray, blasting and multiple people on tools at once.
  • Quiet. From 64 dB(A), which is conversation level. A piston compressor in the same room is not.
  • Cleaner air. The packaged dryer and filters strip moisture and oil carryover before the air reaches your tools.
  • Lower cost per unit of air. More up front, cheaper to run, longer service life.

The ELGi EN range

  • EN4 - 18 CFM at 8 bar on a 200 litre receiver. Suits a small workshop or a serious home setup with three phase available.
  • EN5 - 26 CFM at 8 bar on a 200 litre receiver. The same footprint with meaningfully more air.
  • EN7 - 38.6 CFM at 8 bar on a 270 litre receiver. The step up for a multi-bay workshop.

All are supplied as CTD full feature packages including the refrigerated dryer, line filters and auto drain. Factory units are 8 bar. If you run truck tyre equipment and need 10 bar, tell us when you order, because we handle those conversions in house.

Installing a screw compressor

Power

The compressor runs on 400 V three phase. The dryer and the auto drain each need their own 10 A GPO, so plan for two standard outlets alongside the three phase supply. Sort this with your sparky before delivery day, not after.

Space and clearance

Allow a metre of clearance on all sides and two metres above. Screw compressors reject a lot of heat and need airflow to do it. Boxing one into a cupboard is the fastest way to shorten its life.

Delivery

These packages run from around 350 kg upwards. They ship on a pallet and need forklift or tailgate access. Tell us what your site can handle when you order.

Rotary screw compressor FAQs

Do I need three phase power?

Yes. The EN series runs on 400 V three phase. If your site is single phase only, a piston compressor is the practical option.

Fixed speed or variable speed?

Fixed speed is the stocked default and suits workshops with fairly consistent demand. Variable speed drive is available and pays for itself where demand swings widely across the day. We can quote either.

How quiet is it really?

From 64 dB(A). You can hold a conversation standing next to one running, which is why workshops put them inside rather than out the back.

Can I get 10 bar instead of 8?

Yes. Factory CTD units are 8 bar. We assemble 10 bar conversions in house for truck tyre applications. Ask when you order rather than after delivery.

What maintenance does it need?

Scheduled oil, oil filter, air filter and separator changes at the manufacturer's intervals. Less frequent attention than a piston, but not zero. Keep to the schedule and these run for years.

Do you deliver Australia wide?

Yes, free shipping Australia wide. Given the weight, confirm your delivery access with us before ordering.
