Petrol Pressure Washers

Petrol powered pressure washers for heavy duty work

Petrol is what you buy when an electric machine has stopped being enough. A 10 amp power point puts a hard ceiling on what an electric pressure washer can deliver. A petrol engine has no such limit, which is why every commercial concrete cleaning outfit runs one.

What petrol gets you

Pressure and flow an electric unit cannot reach

Our two machines run at 3600 PSI and 4000 PSI, with flow rates of 11.3 and 23.4 litres per minute. That second number is the one that separates trade machines from domestic ones. More litres per minute means more square metres cleared per hour, and on a big driveway that is the difference between a morning and a full day.

No power lead

Building sites, rural properties, paddocks, the far end of an acreage block. Anywhere without a power point, petrol is the only option.

Sustained running

Petrol machines are built to run for hours. Domestic electric units are not, and pushing one that way is how pumps fail early.

What petrol costs you

Noise

Significantly louder than electric. Worth thinking about if you have close neighbours or you are working early.

Outdoor use only

Petrol engines produce carbon monoxide. Never run one inside a garage or shed, even with the door open. If your washing happens inside, you want an electric unit instead.

Maintenance

Engine oil, fuel, spark plug, air filter. It is a small engine and needs treating like one. Stale fuel sitting in the carburettor over winter is the most common reason a petrol washer will not start in spring.

Choosing between the two

SP360P, 3600 PSI, 11.3 L/min

The lighter of the two and the more manageable to move around. Plenty of machine for driveways, paths, fencing, machinery and general property maintenance. SP360P.

SP400P, 4000 PSI, 23.4 L/min

The commercial machine. More than double the flow rate of the SP360P, which is where the real gain is. If you are cleaning for a living or dealing with large areas regularly, this is the one. SP400P.

Common questions

Is 4000 PSI too much for a car?

At close range with the wrong nozzle, yes, it will damage paint and trim. These are surface cleaning machines. For vehicles, back off the pressure, use a wide nozzle, keep your distance, or use a wall mounted electric unit designed for the job.

Can I run it off a tank or a bucket?

Check the specific model for whether it can draw from a static source or needs mains feed. Running a pump dry destroys it, so this is worth confirming before you commit.
