Single phase EV chargers for Australian homes

If your home runs on single phase power, this is your page. A 7kW charger is the fastest you can go on a single phase supply, and for most drivers it's all you'll ever need.

How fast is a 7kW home EV charger

Around 40 km of range an hour on a typical EV, so a 60kWh battery goes from near empty to full in eight to nine hours. Plug in at 9pm, drive off full at 7am. Compared to the portable charger that came with the car, it's three to four times quicker.

7.2kW output on a 32 amp EV charger circuit

Every 7kW charger here runs at 7.2kW, drawing up to 32A on one phase at 230V. Your electrician fits a dedicated 40A Type A RCBO at the switchboard. That's the same install for all four models, so the choice below is about features, not wiring.

Pick your 7kW single phase model

Simple: Ocular LTE Plus 7kW

Tethered 6m cable, LCD screen showing live charging data, Bluetooth app for scheduling. No fuss.

Solar: Ocular IQ Home Solar 7kW

CT clamp included so it charges from your excess solar and backs off when the house is busy. Cable or socket.

Smart, no solar: Ocular IQ Mini 7kW

Same smart platform as the Home Solar, minus the solar gear. RFID cards control who charges. Cable or socket.

Managed: Ocular IQ Wallbox 7kW

Touch screen, MID meter and OCPP for billing users. The pick for strata and small business. Cable or socket.

Should you go 22kW instead

Only if you have three phase power and a car that can use it. Plenty of EVs top out at 7kW or 11kW on AC anyway. If you do have three phase, see the 22kW EV chargers.

Not sure which one? Our home EV charger page has the three-question selector.
